Accessorising The Ford F-150 Raptor

Ford F-150 Raptor

Introducing the Ford F-150 Raptor: What’s New for You?

A new revolution in the looks and power of off-road trucks, Ford has launched the new Raptor F150, which is a class apart. It features a body of high resistance aluminum which is military grade. This means that the new Ford F-150 Raptor is strong, and lighter up to 500 pounds.

The box frame, however, is built with the uncompromising strength of steel. According to Ford itself, this Ford Raptor is the most dependable Raptor to be made. This new model is phenomenally much stronger than its predecessors.

Off-road experiences just became like never before. It has a superior running clearance. Another beneficial feature that this Ford F-150 Raptor has is that it effectively balances out the power distribution between the rear wheels and the front wheels. For this purpose, the new technology used in this Raptor shows a 4 wheel drive combined with on demand torque transfer case.

Additionally, the Ford F-150 Raptor also utilises the FOX Racing Shox (3.0 inch) coupled with a custom made technology to facilitate internal bypass. All these features in one Raptor mean that you get variable power rates with ease, as per the requirements of the road. So the user gets a powerful and controlled off-road ride along with a smooth on-road experience.

Ford F-150 Raptor: Parts and Accessories

While it is accepted that the Ford F-150 Raptor is all a user could wish for, there is still a lot that could be added onto the Raptor to customise is as per the specific requirements of the user. Generally, there are a lot of Mustang options that users go for, but that’s really not necessary. There are a lot of useful and interesting genuine Ford parts that you could use to customize your new Ford F-150 Raptor.

Addictive Desert Designs Bump Stop Kit 2-1/2" Rear With FOX Bump Stops

This kit goes a long way to safeguard the suspension of a Ford F-150 Raptor, which will protect your truck from bottoming out. The Bump Stop Kit is complete with FOX bump stop shocks which goes a long way to dampen and contain the suspension movement. This product comes in a finish of satin black and is a 100 percent made in United States product.

The Bump Stop is even better. With a velocity sensitive shock mechanism (short stroke) this bump stop can be easily set up. Its high flow design of the piston has been race-developed. The added Delrin pads are highly durable and makes sure that the operation is silent.

Husky Liners Front Floor Liner WeatherBeater Black Pair SuperCab/SuperCrew

Your new Ford F-150 Raptor need not have dirty carpets, thanks to this pair of front floor liners. So future spilled drinks and mud covered shoes inside your truck do not have to be a problem for you, if you have these guards in place.

With a design that closely fits along the form of the truck floor, this product is made of chemical resistant and durable rubber material. It is also very easy to clean.

Husky Liners under Seat Storage Gearbox SuperCrew F-150

With this storage solution under your seat, you can easily get organised and more efficient with your Ford F-150. You can use it to stowaway loose stuff and bits of paper that are important, but get lost anyway.

It has an anti skid surface that prevents the tray from shifting and overturning. It is black in color and has a textured finish. Easy to install and use right away.

Ford Steering Wheel Raptor Leather Heated F-150

For those who are looking for some assertive upgrades, this is for you. This product has a design which is race inspired. It has perforated sides and a red stripe up front on a black leather base. It also has a preinstalled wiring system for airbags and associated electronics. Its installation will not require you to buy any additional steering wheel hardware.

The Ford F-150 Raptor is second to none in terms of muscle and power. However, systemised upgrades and added parts on your truck can help a lot to enhance the entire experience of your Ford F-150 Raptor.

2015 Ford Mustang renders reveal look of the real thing

This is, according to the pony-car obsessed kids over at Mustang6G.com, the closest, most accurate rendering of the new, 2015 Ford Mustang to date. Artis Chazcron used a combination of Ford CAD images and information from assorted spy shots to assemble a fairly handsome car, albeit one that conforms to the tired cliché of being more evolutionary than revolutionary.

Now, it's very important to note that these are still speculative renders, and that they only represent the base car - that could explain the lack of the Mustang's vestigial side scoops, along with other, newer styling cues that Mustang6G seems to think will arrive on production models. Those items include a new, double-bubble roof, although the Mustang aficionados claim that even if it were present, it'd barely be visible from these angles.

The front end is pretty spot on, compared to what we've seen from earlier spy shots, while the tail, with its interesting light design is something new. The louvered taillights look quite different from the current version, obviously, though Mustang has gone the whimsical route with taillights before. Also, note the new rear diffuser uses an integrated reverse light and rear foglight, the latter of which is required for sale in Europe.

According to reports, this is merely the first trickle of a coming deluge of Mustang information. Sources are claiming that the Mustang will actually be shown near the end of December (merry Christmas indeed!), while official teaser images will start popping up any day now. We'll have much more on the new Mustang ahead of its predicted debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

Hybrid taxi drivers find fuel efficiency paying off after Sandy

 by: George Kennedy

One of the major side effects of the power outrages in New York and New Jersey following hurricane Sandy is gas stations' difficulty getting fuel to customers. Shortages have led to seemingly endless gas lines, and in all of this, hybrids have shown their inherent value.

Business Insider says that hybrids are proving to be advantageous for many New York City taxi drivers. The NYC cab fleet is currently a mix of hybrid vehicles and comparatively fuel-hungry Ford Crown Victoria sedans. According to the report, at many taxi companies, cars are assigned to drivers first-come, first-serve, so what they're driving on a given day comes down to the luck of the draw.

One cab driver said that refueling a the V8-powered Ford costs about $45 a day, while the the hybrid taxis can go a couple days before needing to gas up. It's suspected that the Crown Vic drivers, forced to go to great lengths to refuel, will not be reimbursed for their efforts.

Ford shows updated 2013 Fiesta sedan in Brazil

by: Jeffrey N. Ross

Very few cars showing up at this year's São Paulo Motor Show have relevance to the US market, but the refreshed 2013 Ford Fiesta sedan certainly does. The Paris Motor Show has already given us a look at the global styling of the 2013 Fiesta hatchback, and now we get to see what changes are in store for the four-door version of the car. Although this updated global design is for the 2013 model year, these changes will wait until the 2014 model year for the US-spec Fiesta.

As expected, the 2013 Fiesta gets a healthy dose of Ford's latest design language, the restyled car gets a very similar appearance to the 2013 Fusion starting with the narrowed headlights, powerdome hood and the Aston Martin-inspired grille. Ford also did some cosmetic work to the rear of the Fiesta sedan with reshaped taillights to go along with a new decklid and fascia design. There were no images released for the new sedan, but the 2013 hatchback received minor upgrades including a new gauge cluster, steering wheel and door panels.

Ford also failed to provide any press release for the new Fiesta sedan we can only imagine that it would have similar upgrades of the hatchback we saw in Paris last month. Some of these highlights include the new EcoBoost three-cylinder engine and Active City Stop crash mitigation technology. We would expect to see both versions of the revised US-spec Fiesta to debut early next year.

Ford teases five SEMA-bound Focus ST concept cars

by: Seyth Miersma

Ford has revealed a few images of five tuned Focus ST concepts that will be shown off at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this month. None of this group of five is overly subtle, which would run counter to the spirit of SEMA itself, and all hope to highlight the performance nature of Ford's newest hot hatch. In no particular order then, here are the quick-and-dirty facts on each car, in advance of the full details out of Vegas:

  1. 2013 Ford Focus ST by Tanner Foust Racing (top): X Games warrior Tanner Foust wanted his ST to be able to go from work to the track, while not being too harsh for commuting in Southern California. A body kit, MagnaFlow exhaust and fully adjustable front and rear suspension have been added.
  2.  2013 Ford Focus ST by Bojix Design (upper left): The Bojix Design car stands out mostly for its eye-catching orange paint, black hood and low-rider stance. Upgraded brakes and coil-over springs are noted performance adds.
  3.  2013 Ford Focus ST by M&J Enterprises (upper right): M&J partnered with Ford, Cosworth LLC for ultimate performance. Ford Racing engine and suspension upgrades result in an aggressively fast car putting out some 330 horsepower.
  4. 2013 Ford Focus ST by Galpin Auto Sports (lower left): The sinister Galpin car, rocking some shockingly green wheels, was meant as a rally car-inspired build. The menacing looks of the body kit are backed by methanol injection and larger brakes, creating a car that the tuner claims is rally-ready.
  5. 2013 Ford Focus ST by Steeda Autosports (lower right): Steeda has added its own "G-Trac" suspension to its SEMA Focus, as well as Brembo brakes and a custom 19-inch wheel and tire package.

Lincoln MKZ Hybrid rated at 45 mpg, below 47-mpg Fusion Hybrid

by: Sebastian Blanco

Just how important are all the luxury touches of a Lincoln compared to a Ford? They'd better be worth a two-miles-per-gallon penalty, since that's what buyers will be hit with if they choose the MKZ Hybrid over the 47-mpg Fusion Hybrid. Ford announced today that the MKZ Hybrid has been certified by the EPA to get 45 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway and 45 mpg combined.

Granted, 45 mpg does put the MKZ into the top-of-its-class fuel economy range, beating the Lexus ES Hybrid by five mpg combined and delivering "more miles per gallon than any luxury vehicle in America." The MKZ Hybrid is also available for the same price as the non-hybrid model. The more efficient 2.0-liter, four-cylinder automatic MKZ gets 26 combined mpg, 22 in the city and 33 on the highway.

2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is a diamond on the rough

2010 Ford F-150by: Jonathon Ramsey

Although some of us have an unabashed love for all-things off-road, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor didn't register a huge blip on our collective radar. We figured it would be a performance kit that was much more kit than performance, or an off-road wunderkind that makes life a Hobbesian kind of brutish when used anywhere but the moon. We spent two days in Southern California, one of which in the Raptor's Anza Borrego Desert birthplace, to discover one thing: We were wrong. The Raptor is all that. And a bag of chips. And dessert.

Next Ford Focus to be built exclusively in Europe?

Next Ford FocusBy: Chris Paukert

Since it first came to the market in 2000, Ford's Focus has been consistently lauded for its crisp "European handling," and thanks to a Ford of Europe press release yesterday, that bromide sounded like it was about to become truer than ever. The release in question announced that the next all-new Focus is to be sourced from a single location – the Blue Oval's Saarlouis Plant in Germany. Quite understandably, that proclamation caused a bit of consternation here in the States, with some news outlets reporting that North American Focus models will also originate from the German facility. Not so.

Autoblog spoke with Lincoln, Mercury communications manager Mark Schirmer this morning (despite his title, Schirmer has been tasked with preparing for the U.S. launch of the 2010 car) and he has re-confirmed that all North American Focus models will originate from a freshly renovated Wayne Assembly Plant in Michigan (something that Ford officials initially promised back in May).

The intention of FoE's confusingly worded statement was to note that Saarlouis is to be the single point of origin for all European Focus models. In addition to Saarlouis and Wayne, Ford will also likely produce the next Focus at a plant somewhere in Asia, but a location announcement has not yet been made.

Next Ford Focus could net over 40 MPG

Ford FocusBy: Jeremy Korzeniewski

Even if the Lincoln Concept C from the Detroit Auto Show never makes it to production, its powertrain could find its way into FoMoCo's small cars. While the first application of Ford's new EcoBoost series of engines will be a 3.5L V6 in the 2009 Ford Flex, the technology might make the most sense in a much smaller and more efficient package. For instance, in the Lincoln Concept C, the 1.6-liter turbocharged, direct injected four-cylinder offers up 180 hp and an equal amount of torque while returning a (theoreticall) 43 mpg on the highway. This powerplant could be mated with Ford's PowerShift dual clutch gearbox in an uplevel version of the next-gen Focus subcompact that's expected to debut in 2010, offering a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency over the outgoing 2.0L four.

Still the Reason for the Season

F-150 owners are a diverse group of people. Sure, they all recognize this truck's advantages: its great design, powerful engine, towing ability and so on. But these F-150 fanatics all utilize these features for very different purposes. Some want a lifted truck, some want one that's gonna tear people up at the track and some want one that built to take on any unpaved back road on Earth. But the one thing they all do agree about is that regardless of what you need, you're sure to find it at AmericanTrucks!

Getting it up (your TRUCK, that is) with a Ford Truck lift kit is a necessary task if you want to taken seriously when you're off-roading. Otherwise, you're just going to look like some weekend warrior who tricked his wife into letting him take the family car out for a little fun. If you're going to do it, go all the way with it and pick up a lift kit from AmericanTrucks.

Now, if you're going to lift your truck, you should also have something underneath there to show off. Something like a new Ford Truck exhaust. And since we all know that a new exhaust system can give your truck a serious boost in performance, not only will you be riding higher than everyone else on the road, but you'll be passing them like they're standing still. Which they very well may be, so they can get a better look at the mean machine that just dropped their jaws.

But it's kind of pointless to upgrade all this stuff on your F-150 if you're not going to also put in a new set of Ford Truck headlights. After all, your truck isn't just a daytime toy; there's a lot of fun to be had at night. A pair of projector headlights could be just what you need, as they're specially designed to focus the highest amount of light right where you need it; on the ground in front of you.

And anything not yet mentioned is almost certainly available in the Ford Truck accessories section of AmericanTrucks. You know, those extra little things that make the biggest difference when it comes to making your truck exactly what you want it to be. That might be something as small as a Ford Truck license plate frame, or something as significant as brand new Ford Truck seats. Whatever you need to finish off your custom ride, it's sure to be found here.

2009 Ford F-150 named Motor Trend Truck of the Year

Ford F-150By: Jeremy Korzeniewski

Realistically, Motor Trend had two choices when it came time to pick its Truck of the Year for 2009. On one hand, Ford's redesigned F-150 has been the best seller in America for, well... decades, and offers tireless capabilities and hundreds of possible configurations at an affordable price. It's never been better. On the other hand, the latest Dodge Ram, also redesigned for 2009, features that truck's characteristically macho styling turned up to 11 and gets the segment's first-ever set of coil-overs propping up the rear axle. It too has never been better.

The other two contenders were the Suzuki Equator, which is really nothing more than a rebadged Nissan Frontier (not that it's a bad truck, mind you) and the HUMMER H3T, which is a perfectly fine vehicle that's cursed with a currently-hated nameplate and a reputation for a major thirst for fuel. As you can tell from the headline, the Blue Oval's truck emerged the winner after a process that Motor Trend describes as the closest vote in history.

2009 Motor Trend Truck of the Year Contender: Ford F-150

Ford claims it sells more of its F-150 half-ton pickups to work and commercial customers than its competitors do, and Ford predicts this segment will grow to 45 percent of F-150 sales.

Toward that end, the new 2009 Ford F-150's fully boxed chassis is further fortified to provide best-in-class rigidity, payload capacity (up to 3030 pounds), and tow ratings (up to 11,300 pounds). As such, the new F-150 is well positioned to capture contractors migrating down-market out of Super Dutys to save money and gas (did we mention that a new six-speed automatic, a lighter, more aerodynamic cab, and other tweaks boost fuel economy by 12 percent with the 5.4-liter?).

Ford claims payload and towing numbers like that simply can't be had with a coil sprung rear axle, so it stuck with leafs but made them longer to smooth the ride and wider with new mounting hardware to improve lateral rigidity and roll control. Lateral grip of 0.70 g for both Fords bested all but the feathery base Dodge and Suzuki, and our rear-drive SXT scored the best stop at 133 feet from 60 mph (the three-ton Lariat needed 144 feet).

Status-conscious contractors will have eight F-150 models from which to choose (including the forthcoming SVT Raptor), which Detroit editor Todd Lassa reckons is "about four too many," adding, "If this Lariat is the third truck from the top, how much of a boudoir must the King Ranch and Platinum interiors be?" Judges praised the low noise levels and interior materials quality, though some found the design cartoonishly macho.

Still, handy features like the Tailgate Step, Box Side Step, a stowable bed-extender, and rear seats that fold up with one hand to reveal a broad, flat load floor help tally a strong superiority score. On the negative side of the ledger is Ford's aging all-V-8-engine lineup, which is composed of two- and three-valve 4.6-liters and a three-valve 5.4. SVT will bring a bigger 6.2 in the Raptor, and an EcoBoost V-6 is likely to join the lineup for folks who don't tow, but the diesel is on hold.

The base V-8 handily outruns and outhauls the V-6 Dodge, but sounds and feels strained doing so. Gearing that's a third shorter than the Dodge's kept our 5.4L 4x4 within 0.6 second of the big Dodge, but costs it at the pump, where both trucks averaged just 13.2 mpg over 500 miles of mixed driving. The new six-speed automatic features excellent tow/haul-mode programming (ordering downshifts with a tap of the brakes on downhill grades, holding lower gears, etc.), but in normal mode, it's lethargic to kick down, and there's no way to manually select the higher gears.

Both Fords tackled our off-road sand-loop with aplomb. The 4x4 transfer case engaged high-and low-range settings quickly and easily, with the message center confirming the shift was in process. We're disappointed, however, that there's no on-pavement AWD option as offered by Dodge and General Motors.

Will the 2009 Ford F-150 be crowned the 2009 Motor Trend Truck of the Year? Find out Tues, December 16.
