Chevrolet to skip Frankfurt Motor Show?

Add Chevrolet to the growing list of automakers that won't be making an appearance in Germany at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. According to Marc Kempe, Chevrolet Europe's communications director, the brand just doesn't have any new vehicles to show off, so it makes financial sense to skip Frankfurt and focus on events where the automaker will be launching new models. "Everybody observing the economic situation at present will appreciate the situation. We have to think very carefully about the investments we make," he told Automotive News.

Slow sales in European markets may have also contributed to Chevrolet's decision to pull out of Frankfurt. So far this year, sales of GM's bread-and-butter brand are down 17.6% in Europe.

For those who like to keep track of such things, Chevy joins Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi as automakers that have officially announced that they won't have an official presence in Frankfurt.
